Obama's day: U.S. mayors

David Jackson, USA TODAY 6:44 a.m. EST January 23, 2015President Obama(Photo: Jacquelyn Martin, AP)President Obama ends State of Union week Friday by speaking with politicians at the ground level, the nation's mayors.Obama speaks in the late afternoon to the U.S. Conference of Mayors, which gathers at the White House to hear from administration officials about some of the ideas the president offered in Tuesday's address."The mayors will spend the day at the White House interacting with cabinet members and senior White House officials to expand the partnerships between cities and the federal government," says the White House schedule.Proposals for new infrastructure like roads and bridges are expected to be a major topic.The president on Friday will also be making final preparations for his weekend trip to India, where he spends the early part of next week.Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah dead at 90Jan 23, 2015
