Penang CM Lim Guan Eng speaking to media today on the upcoming Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council meeting. – The Malaysian Insider pic by Hasnoor Hussain, February 5, 2015.The DAP will be using the long-awaited Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council meeting on Sunday to discuss issues based on facts, not slander.Without specifically revealing what issues it would be discussing, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said PR leaders will talk on matters concerning the people's interest.Asked if it would be an awkward situation at the meeting following the recent public spat between DAP and PAS over the local government elections and hudud issues, Lim said there should not be such feelings."We (DAP) speak based on facts and the truth. What is there to be awkward about," he said when asked to comment on the impending meeting.Asked if he expects contentious issues among the parties to be ironed out at the meeting, he said: "We will see if they can be ironed out. It also depends if they can be ironed out."It was reported that a date for the meeting has been set on Sunday and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang would be attending.It has been a long time since the top leaders of the three parties met at the PR leadership council, where all important matters are discussed and finalised.It was reported that no meeting had been called for over six months and Hadi had been skipping the meeting for over a year.Lim said the meeting was long overdue."I reiterate that the DAP's stand is when we talk about PR leadership meeting, the leaders must come."For an extended period of time that has not happened. We have got assurances that Hadi will come... failing which the meeting will not proceed," he said.Lim said it was not decided by him but by the DAP central executive committee (CEC)."We do not operate in a one-man show where one person can overrule everyone... no."We go by collective decision-making. So all leaders must attend, only then we can consider it a PR leadership council," he said.DAP has previously criticised PAS over the Selangor Menteri Besar issue after Hadi refused to endorse PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as PR's candidate for the position last year, going against the collective decision of the coalition.Lim also said when it came to DAP, the leader representing the party at the council is the secretary-general."The secretary-general of DAP is the party leader. Certain people refuse to understand (this)."When DAP discusses issues (with its PR allies), we talk with the presidents of PAS and PKR as well as the opposition leader (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim).. .and the DAP representative is its secretary-general," he added. – February 5, 2015.
